This year, Easter is at the beginning of April. For Christians around the world, this is the most significant weekend in the church calendar. On Good Friday we remember that Jesus was crucified outside Jerusalem about 2,000 years ago. This event confused his disciples, brought sorrow to his mother and seemed to be a triumph of injustice. But as Jesus died even one of the soldiers standing by recognised something of the divine.
Some churches listed below will be sharing in walks of witness on Good Friday, helping us to remember story. Others may have quieter, reflective services. If that was the end of the story, Christians would have no hope and no reason to promote their faith to others! On that first Easter Day, as the women went to anoint Jesus’ body with spices (in accordance with local custom) they were amazed to find the tomb empty, save for the grave clothes. Quickly they learned that JESUS IS ALIVE. And this is the message that will be proclaimed from all our churches this Easter.
The fact that Jesus is alive affects the whole world for Christians believe that through his death we can all have life in fullness with the certainty of sins forgiven. If you want to find out more, or join us in celebrating this world-shattering news, contact your local church for further details.
Meanwhile, whatever you do this Easter, may you know God’s blessing in your life.
