Young performers from Medway and across the southeast will be taking to the stage next week to showcase their musical talents and support the homeless.

Woodlands Youth Centre will be holding a summer garden party on Saturday, 13 August from 4 to 11pm at the centre on Woodlands Road, Gillingham.

From acoustic bands to dj sets and soloists there will be a mix of talented musicians performing on stage outside the centre.

Among the acts will be The Kicks, Deejay Mixstah, As Worlds Collide and Sophy J, all young people aspiring to be the next big thing.

Tickets for the event cost £4 in advance and £5 on the door. Proceeds will go towards Caring Hands in the Community, a Chatham charity offering homeless people advice and support as well as practical help with laundry, clothing and shower facilities.

With a dance studio, music room and recording facilities, pool table, games consoles and a café, Woodlands Youth Centre has a range of activities for young people aged 13 to 19 years old.

The centre also offers advice to young people on issues such as health, education and employment.
