Whatever industry or trade we work in there comes a time when we feel that if it were not for some of the constraints placed upon us, we could accomplish so much more, be more effective in our chosen field. That is a summary of how Andrew Gager was feeling after many years in the construction industry, slightly frustrated by some of the standards of workmanship, attention to detail and customer service he came across on a regular basis. Many of us accept that as the way it is, but to Andrews credit, he went the other way and so was born Miranda Double Glazing Parts & Repairs. In 1995 Andrew set up the company to provide specialist repairs and quality parts for the double glazing industry, concentrating on the quality of service provided and the quality of the parts used to provide excellent value for money to domestic and commercial properties. Andrew has lived in the Medway towns for nearly 25 years and has worked in the industry for over thirty years. He and his wife Marie have three children, with the youngest of them studying History & Politics at University at present.

Working from their base on the Medway City Estate Andrew and his team despatch service teams all over the Medway towns and surrounding areas carrying out repairs to double glazed windows and doors as quickly and efficiently as possible, putting right the effects of wear and tear, accidental damage and deliberate damage, matching styles and colours from the vast array of stock that is held in their stores. If you can tackle these repairs yourself you are more than welcome to call in to the counter and speak to James who runs the trade and retail counter, his experience and industry knowledge will ensure that you are provided with the replacement items you require. James has been with Miranda for three years and both Andrew and Marie has proved to be an invaluable member of the team. Taking on everything from managing the stores to designing the company website and he is presently working on a new stock control program and software for the admin department.

The office is run by Marie and her team Carol, Diane and Annie who take calls and carry out all of the administrative tasks for the rest of the company, they also allocate the work to the field engineers ensuring the most efficient use of the field teams time. While juggling all of those things they are also acutely aware that time is precious to you and will do all they can to ensure that your booking is as convenient for you as possible. Between the internal team they also monitor the effectiveness of all aspects of the business from advertising to the reliability of the components they use and the suppliers they buy from. Miranda are not afraid to be judged either as they are members of several trade and consumer bodies that have rigorous and exacting standards to maintain, including Medway Fair Traders, FENSA and the CPA

Much of the work that comes in is from customer recommendations with the remainder made up from local advertising. Your first call to Miranda will probably be to book an engineer to inspect the problem area for you. The team are so experienced they can, in a good number of cases, provide a guide to the approximate cost. It’s not possible every time and a free inspection and the provision of a written quotation can be arranged at the time. That’s when you are going to meet Andy, Phil, Steve or John, these are the guys who will call to help you, between them they have over eighty years of experience in the industry and all of them are from the Medway area. Steve also gives a lot of his time to helping local youngsters in a football team. You will never be pestered by pushy sales people, you will be provided with the quote you requested and then all you have to do is ring back and book the repair. In many cases the repair can be carried out for you on the first visit as the guys carry a number of the most common spare parts on the vehicle. Guarantees are given with all work, a general repair carries a one year guarantee, five years on replacement sealed units and ten years on installations.

Andrew has built a successful business, founded on his experiences in the industry and his firm belief in providing products and service that customers will want to use again and again as the need arises, this is an infectious attitude that is apparent throughout the company. Miranda are also a company that is good for Medway, everyone working there lives in and grew up in the area for all or the majority of their lives. Local people serving the local community, creating jobs and all that entails for Medway.
