“…a slow-burning, mesmerising production that drew the audience in before reaching its violent conclusion.” Review of Platform 4 Macbeth in the Daily Echo, Southampton

Shakespeare’s tragedy of ambition and guilt is given a modern makeover when it comes to The Brook Theatre next month.

Touring company Platform 4’s production creates a taut psychodrama that crackles with a wild electricity. Characters appear and disappear from the shadows as part of a nightmarish vision.

Building on the success of their Tempest, this Macbeth employs sparse staging and creates unique atmospheres while keeping the play intact, compelling, and fresh.

Platform 4 has developed a reputation for creating stunning visual theatre; blending text, movement and objects with evocative sound and light, to create unique theatrical gems.

Shakespeare’s tale is brought alive by the sonic experiments of sound designer Jules Bushell collaborating with composer and guitarist Bic Hayes, in his first foray into theatre after working and performing with psychedelic rock band The Cardiacs.

Platform 4 are also delighted to be working with world renowned Robert Bryan, who has been lighting designer for, among others, Russian filmmaker Andrei Tarkovsky.

Platform 4 presents Macbeth at The Brook Theatre on Saturday, 15 October at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at £12, students £8 and senior citizens £10.
