Enjoy the uplifting sounds of African drums when Kasai Masai bring their rhythmic music, deep from the heart of Congo mixed with their own urban twist, to The Brook Theatre, Chatham.

Equator Festival launches its series with Kasai Masai’s uplifting African rhythms on Friday, 18 November at 7.30pm.

Kasai Masai are a five-piece band led by Nickens Nkoso. Their original compositions feature galloping rhythms, strong melodies, passionate beats, swinging guitars, moving saxophone and the fast-paced style of Soukous and African Rumba.

Kasai Masai’s music reflects their journey from rural to urban, performing music that has been passed on from generation to generation combined with their own contemporary style and performed in traditional Congolese costumes.

Written in Swahili, Lingala and Kimongo, Kasai Masai’s lyrics portray the cultural diversity of Congo where more than 400 languages are spoken.
