Ever wished you could work out how to fix that leaky tap or fancied sprucing up your pad with some new tiles?

Parents and carers from a Strood children’s centre will be able to pick up some top tips for making home improvements at a DIY workshop next week.

Eight families from Gun Lane Children’s Centre will be heading to the B & Q store in Gillingham next Monday, 5 December, where the retailer will be laying on workshops in plumbing and tiling.

The workshops, or ‘do it all classes’ were arranged after families at the centre said they’d like to improve their DIY skills around the home. The morning and afternoon sessions, starting from 10am, will be held by trained staff at B&Q who will teach the families basic skills.

Janette Liddell, Community Liason Officer at the centre, said: “This is something that our parents have shown a real interest in and it’s great that with help from B & Q we could put this on for them.

“Whether it’s just learning how to fix the leaky tap so you don’t have to call a plumber or actually picking up some skills that could lead to taking up a course and learning more, it’s a great opportunity to give our parents some useful skills and will hopefully be good fun too.”
