Santa arrived in super style at Chartwell last weekend as he was chauffeur-driven in a beautiful green Morgan sports car. Although the weather was chilly the sun shone brightly for his arrival, and a great cheer went up as he was driven through the car park and delivered to the Chartwell Visitor Centre door. Children wrote letters requesting their very own special delivery on Christmas Eve, read Christmas stories queued patiently for a chat, and were treated to a free gift from the Very Special Guest in the red suit.

Hannah McVey, Learning & Events Officer, says ‘Christmas is always a very special time here at Chartwell. It was Sir Winston Churchill’s family home and you really feel the spirit of Christmas at this time of year, especially if you blow the cobwebs away with a walk around the beautiful gardens and estate. We love to see all the letters for Santa, and it is one of our favourite jobs to make sure they are delivered in time for Christmas Day’.

It was a lovely day for everyone involved, and visitors also enjoyed warming festive treats in the restaurant and special tastings of festive items in the shop. Although you may have missed the Special Guest this year, why not why walk off any festive excess with a Boxing Day or New Years’ Day walk, and enjoy brunch and a glass of champagne in our warm and welcoming restaurant.
