Medway theatre’s technical crew will take centre stage for a change when they host an exciting summer workshop that promises to reveal the tricks of their trade.

This new workshop will give wannabe techies the chance to discover the skills involved behind the scenes of theatrical productions and gain real experience of live entertainment.

The course is designed for those who want to, or take part in theatre – from the village or school hall to amateur or dance company members who book professional theatres and want to arrive with technical knowledge… or anyone just plain interested.

The one-week course will include health and safety, tours and show preparation, sound and lighting equipment operation and stagecraft.

At the end of the week’s workshop there will be opportunity to do a practical set up and rehearsal before a presentation before friends and family.

There are two one-week courses available: Monday, 13 to Friday 17 August and Monday, 20 to Friday, 24 August. There are 30 places available on each course; places cost £85. The course is suitable for all ages from 17 to 100.

The workshop will take place at The Central Theatre, Chatham from 10am to 5pm each day, with 8pm finish on the Friday for the presentation.
