It’s not long now until the nation will be hanging out the red, white and blue to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, and children and families will be able to step back in time with some fifties themed celebrations.

Two days of Jubilee celebrations will be taking place during the June half term in Chatham and Rainham shopping centres, with a 1950s theme.

On Wednesday, 6 June, from 11am to 3pm, Rainham Shopping Centre will be full of nostalgic, fifties themed street entertainers, performers and acts including a balloon artist and children’s art and craft workshops from 11am to 1pm and 1.30 to 3pm.

On Thursday, 7 June, the festivities will be heading to Chatham for a children’s day, full of free activities from 11am to 3pm.

The family friendly activities will include workshops in the Pentagon, where children will be able to make their own crowns, tiaras, Union Jack flags and hats.

There will also be a Punch and Judy show and performances from the Teddy Bear Circus throughout the day on Chatham High Street.
