A special evening for mums to be is celebrating five years of bumps, breastfeeding and baby massage.
The Temple Mill Children’s Centre pregnancy evening is celebrating it’s fifth anniversary with a special party next Monday, 9 July.
Goodie bags, party cake and a prize draw to win baby goodies will be on offer to everyone who visits the centre, based on Cliffe Road, Strood from 6-8pm next Monday.
The group, which is attended by mums, bumps, babies, families and antenatal experts, has come a long way since it’s first meeting held in a small room at the Delce Healthy Living Centre, Rochester, in 2007.
Now run twice a month at the Strood children’s centre, the evening is aimed at providing a complete package of information for expectant parents, from breastfeeding and baby massage to knowing the benefits you are entitled to as a parent.
The celebratory session, from 6 to 8pm, will also include free treatments, demonstrations and information covering a range of areas from water births and nutrition to reflexology and homeopathy.
Health visitors and midwives will also be on hand to offer expert advice to parents at all stages of pregnancy, whether it’s specific information or an informal chat you’re after.
Georgina Strickland, Maternity Reflexologist and mum of two, helps run the evenings. She said: “The last five years have seen the evenings go from strength to strength and we’re really proud of their success. The fifth anniversary is an important milestone and we’re planning on taking the events to the next level. By re-launching the evenings to include information for new parents, we’re further supporting local families as they embark on this new stage in their lives.
“The group is run completely by volunteers who are passionate about what they do and offer their advice and expertise for free. The party is a chance to thank our supporters, celebrate our success and help tell the public about new developments and what to expect in the future.
“Anyone is welcome to come along, and we’d love to see our previous visitors with their new babies.”
The centre is based at Temple Mill Primary School, Cliffe Road, Strood. For more information call the centre on 01634 338 205 or Georgina on 07870 409681.
