A sports taster day for people with physical disabilities is being held in Medway next month (August). Wheelchair rugby, goalball, boccia, wheelchair basketball and powerchair football will all be available to sample between 10am and 4pm on Thursday, 23 August at Medway Park.

Visitors will also be able to try out the new disabled gym equipment with guidance from Medway’s Public Health Team’s new physical disability instructor. An information stand will enable visitors to sign up to the various free taster sessions available, get details about all the different activities, and meet with the coaches to find out about the different disabled sports clubs in Medway.

Kent’s Paralympic Road Show Bus will be parked in main car park throughout the day and will provide people with the opportunity learn about a range of Paralympic sports including sitting volleyball, table tennis and powerlifting.

The promotional day coincides with British Transplant Games registration day, and those taking part in the taster day can stay on at Medway Park to see the first event of the BTG – archery at 4pm. For more information about the promotional day, phone Sports Development Officer John Hatchett on 01634 338763.
