Free information sessions on the government’s changes to welfare will be available for Medway’s social housing tenants throughout March. Staff from Medway Council’s Welfare Reform Team will be on hand at various Medway locations to provide information and advice on the changes which will come into effect in the coming months.

These include housing size criteria (also known as under occupation charge or bedroom tax), council tax benefit, the benefit cap, universal credit and personal independence payment, which will replace disability living allowance for people of working age.

The free sessions will take place at;

The Pentagon Shopping Centre – Monday, 11 March, 10am to 5pm
Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre – Thursday, 14 March, 9am to 8pm
Rochester Community Hub – Tuesday, 19 March, 12noon to 5pm
