Patients at the Wisdom Hospice, run by Medway Community Healthcare, are sitting comfortably thanks to a delivery of new specialist chairs.

The fifteen riser recliner chairs have replaced existing chairs in the hospice; with one for each of the beds on the hospice ward.

Each chair includes special functions which allow the person using it to move the seat, back and arms to their preferred position.

Upon delivery, a group of patients and staff enjoyed the opportunity to put the chairs to the test. “The new chairs have been well received and I am assured by our patients and staff that the new chairs are very comfortable,” explained Stephanie Griffiths, modern matron at the Wisdom Hospice.

Stephanie added: “As well as giving extra support, the chairs also give patients greater choice. If they would prefer not to lie in bed or they feel more comfortable sitting upright they can adjust the chair to be in the ideal position for them.”

Martyn Reeves, chief executive at the Friends Of the Wisdom Hospice, said: “The Friends really hope that these new specially designed chairs, in some small way, can add to the high standard of comfort and care that the staff at the hospice offer to their patients. We are very proud to support the Wisdom Hospice.”
