The Sponsors and Governors of the Bishop of Rochester Academy, Chatham, have announced that the Principal of the academy, Mr Colin Boxall, will be leaving at the end of the summer term.

Brigita Amey, Chair of Governors at the academy, said: “The Governors are grateful to Colin for his hard work at the Bishop of Rochester Academy and recognise that the academy’s academic results have improved under his leadership. Not only did he influence pupils’ achievements, he has also developed a football academy and laid the foundations for one starting for rugby next year. We wish Colin every success for the future.”

Mr Boxall has led the academy since April 2012 and has been responsible for the improvement to the academy’s academic results during this time. In addition, he has managed the academy’s move into its new £23 million purpose built facilities on Magpie Hall Road, Chatham, which was completed on time and within budget this April.
Alex Tear, Director of Education for the Rochester Diocesan Board of Education, the Lead Sponsor said: “Under Mr Boxall’s leadership, the Bishop of Rochester Academy has improved its performance and demonstrated that it can deliver for its students and the local community it serves.

“We look forward to building on this foundation, working with governors, staff, students and parents to ensure that the academy continues to improve and becomes a centre of excellence for secondary education in Medway and the south-east.”
Ms Kuljit Rahelu, the Vice-Principal, will take over the leadership as Acting Principal until a new principal is appointed.
