mrphoebusGravesend shoppers will be treated to the charming spectacle of a penny farthing in motion, ridden by the very dapper Mr Phoebus – dressed head to toe in Victorian finery at ‘Music & Motors – Festival of Transport’ in the town centre on Saturday 15 June.

With a bunch of balloons in hand and coattails trailing merry cheer, Mr Phoebus will delight you with the folly of bell-ringing and horn-hooting as he cycles by in elegant form on the saddle of a modern penny farthing bicycle, pedalling old-fashioned Victorian whimsy.

Riding at the relaxed pace of yesteryear and stopping frequently to tip his hat, photo opportunities abound for onlookers and anyone wanting to don a top hat and pose for a portrait.

An extra special treat for all will be the opportunity to ride one of five modern penny farthings under the expert guidance of Mr Phoebus and enjoy the folly of riding this Victorian icon.

The Mr Phoebus penny farthing is safe and easy to ride and a member of staff will be at hand to offer any assistance needed, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for guests and a uniquely memorable day.

Music & Motors is brought to Gravesend by Town Centre Management on behalf of Gravesham Borough Council, this FREE Family Fun day will also see vintage and classic cars & bikes on display around the shopping area and live music from local entertainers Jason Allen and Miranda Richards – the event takes place throughout the town centre and Community Square on Saturday 15 June between 10am and 5pm.
