booksKeen teen readers will be pleased to know that this year they have their own reading challenge to take part in – with some great prizes up for grabs.

Medway Libraries has developed a reading challenge for 13-16 year olds, after feedback from young people last year showed there was massive interest in a challenge of this kind.
Younger children are already catered for with the national and ever-popular Summer Reading Challenge, but now teenagers have their own scheme.

The Teen Reading Challenge starts on 13 July, with young readers encouraged to read six books of their choice over the summer break – it could be a library book, library audiobook or library e-book.

There are some great prizes including a signed book from authors including Malorie Blackman – author of the award winning novel Noughts & Crosses – and Darren Shan – author of the Zom-B series – plus book tokens, and a year’s membership at one of Medway’s gyms (SHOKK or Echoes).

Winners will be drawn at random from all those who complete the challenge.
The challenge runs until 13 September. Miss it, and miss out!
