There are lots to discover this summer holiday at The Guildhall Museum, Rochester and the Old Brook Pumping Station, Chatham.
Come and visit our new exhibition – Gadgets and Gizmos – and take part in an activity. No need to book. Age 5 and upward. Children should be accompanied by an adult.
Discovery Zone
Open every day except Mondays between 30 July and 1 September.
Free to enter.
Lots to try, including an archaeological dig, shadow portraits and a sound quiz.
Mad Mechanical Machines
Every Tuesday in August (6th, 13th, 20th, 27th)
Drop in any time 10am to 12noon and 1pm to 3.30pm
A free drop-in workshop. Have a look in the museum for inspiration and then dive into our box of junk to make the most preposterous machine imaginable to take home.
Hunt the Gizmo
Some of our gadgets are missing. They must have escaped. Find them around the rest of the museum, answer the questions and win a prize.
Available during museum opening hours. A 50p charge applies.

The Old Brook Pumping Station
Saturday 3 August
10am to 3pm
Visit this recently re-opened pumping station in the heart of Chatham.
Free to enter. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
See the huge single-cylinder pumping engine run, discover how the Rochester Gazette was printed in Victorian times and watch the real printing press working. Also get up close to an Aveling and Porter road roller from the famous factory in Strood.
