Woodville Theatre for Youth created their very own make believe chocolate factory at the Woodville last week.

The 23 young people, most of whom had never met, were given a short script and tasked to come up with ideas on how to condense Charlie and the chocolate factory into a 20 minute performance, where everyone in the group could be involved. charlie woodville

By day three the young people, aged between seven and 15 years, had put together their very own show with four Willy Wonkas and several Charlie Buckets. Proud parents watched their children take to the stage and perform their own version of the show on Thursday afternoon. The transitions between the characters was great and the hall was filled with laughs and coos from the parents.

Claire Goatham, Woodville Theatre for Youth Instructor said “The performers worked so hard all week to devise a vibrant and original version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. For some of the cast this was their first experience of performing, but watching the final performance you never would have guessed. The performers truly put their heart and soul into making the show a success and it was an absolute pleasure getting to know such talented and creative young people. We set up a little photo shoot on the last day and each of the young people got to take home their own head shot too, it was lovely to see their proud faces as they handed over their photo’s to the parents after the show.
