A private childcare nursery in Rochester has been rated as outstanding in all areas by Ofsted.
Little Explorers Nursery received the grading after a visit by inspectors in May 2013. Ofsted rated it as outstanding against all criteria: how well the early years provision meets the needs of the range of children that attend; its contribution to the well-being of children; and the effectiveness of the leadership and management.

The 40-place nursery in Maidstone Road, Rochester provides full day care for children from six months to four years of age. It was established in 2005 by Tara Anwar after a teaching career and was initially helped by grant funding through Medway Council.
Ofsted found that children at Little Explorers are making outstanding progress in their learning because staff use an excellent range of enriching and motivating activities. Children are welcomed on to the premises by cheerful staff who know the children exceptionally well and treat them with respect and courtesy.
Partnership working with parents is excellent because parents are involved in all aspects of care and learning for their children. Children adopt healthy lifestyles at the nursery because staff are exceptionally skilled at teaching children to respect the environment.
Lead Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services at Medway Council, Councillor Mike O’Brien visited the Little Explorers nursery on Monday 19 August as part of a programme of visits to private and voluntary sector nurseries across Medway.
Councillor O’Brien said: “I would like to congratulate all staff at the Little Explorers nursery on providing a first rate childcare facility for babies and young children in Rochester.
“For a second successive time, Ofsted have graded the nursery as outstanding – an outcome that is increasingly hard to achieve as expectations and standards become progressively more rigorous.
“Nurseries such as Little Explorers give families in Medway the reassurance that their children are receiving excellent care while they are working.”
Owner and Manager of Little Explorers Nursery, Tara Anwar said: “We are delighted to have received an outstanding rating from our recent Ofsted inspection, making us one of very few consecutively outstanding settings. This has been due to the hard work of practitioners and their dedication to the children’s wellbeing and development.”
