Medway’s flagship school sport programme – the Mini Youth Games – celebrates the start of its 15th anniversary season next week.

Gallant knights and fair maidens will roam the castle gardens at Medieval Merriment, a free family event taking place at Rochester Castle Gardens during the weekend of Saturday 1 to Sunday 2 September.

The gardens will be transformed into a medieval encampment with a whole array of themed activities, including re-enactments, cooking demonstrations, have-a-go archery, stalls, traders and living history displays.
New features for this year’s event include a medieval fashion show depicting changes in dress through the years, and there’s even the chance to have a personal meeting with the King himself between 12noon and 3pm each day in the castle keep. More

It’s fun, it’s free and it’s the perfect way to mark the start of the 2012 Olympics. The Medway Mile takes place on Friday 27 July, and everyone is invited to come along and walk, run or even skip a mile through Rochester’s streets, from toddlers to seniors and seasoned runners. More

An interactive Medway tugboat and river tour is proving a big hit with visitors to the refurbished Guildhall Museum.
The Rochester museum has been given a facelift that includes a disabled-friendly High Street entrance, a modern Medway-theme gallery, shop and reception point, tri-lingual information boards and a hands-on discovery zone.
The historic features of the Guildhall have also been restored including a 19th century mosaic floor that was discovered in the re-fit. More

Some of the UK’s toughest wheelchair sportsmen and women are bringing their talents to Medway. The wheelchair rugby Coloplast Super Series is being staged at Medway Park on Saturday, 17 and Sunday, 18 March. More
