Compost Awareness Week rounds off with a community fun day on Saturday, 7 May at Riverside Country Park, Gillingham.

Anyone interested in reducing food waste and helping the environment is welcome to come along to the event led by voluntary group The Medway Mulchers.

Medway Council’s Waste Services team will also be on hand with information about waste and recycling services, while the Greenspaces team and MHS homes will showcase their work for green spaces in the community.

Countrystyle, the company that recycles Medway’s garden and food waste will be able to show how the process works, and offer compost samples to take away. There will be activities for children throughout the day including face painting, making tree faces and paper potting for planting seeds.

The event is open from 10am to 4pm and admission is free. The Deputy Mayor of Medway, Cllr. Vaughan Hewett will give a speech and present certificates of attendance to partners at 11.30am
